Summary of the work: Qatar Government Dept: QPMC, has embarked on an ambitious project aimed at utilizing the marine sand resources in the Qatar offshore. A 30 Sq Km area in the western offshore of Qatar was selected as the pilot study area for this project. The work included Hydrographic surveys, Geophysical Studies, Offshore drilling of 30 bore holes upto 20m depth in seabed for collection of core samples, chemical sand sedimentological analysis of samples, evaluation of the sand resource for compliance to QCS and BS:EN standards for construction aggregates , Geological Reserve Estimation and Reporting.
