Former Director, Geological survey of India with 33 years of experience in the field of geological mapping and exploration, Marine and Coastal Survey Division (MCSD), Geological Survey of India (GSI), Mangalore. During  his career in GSI he worked  for  26 years in  the field of Marine Geology and Exploration for offshore mineral deposits. He has a remarkable acumen for offshore mineral exploration and was instrumental in the discovery of polymetal bearing ferro manganese crusts in the Andaman sea. As Director ,Policy Support System,  he conceptualized, formulated and successfully implemented various exploration programs in both eastern and western offshore of India.  He developed more than a dozen freeware for the geology community and many of them are being used by GSI, universities and various departments. He has prepared eight handbooks on various themes and published several research and software related articles in both  international and national scientific journals.
