Technical Adviser (M.Tech in Remote Sensing from ITC, Netherlands and PhD from IISc, Bangalore)
Dr.Sudhira obtained his M.Tech degree in Remote Sensing from ITC, Netherlands and PhD from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, India for his thesis on “Studies on Urban Sprawl and Spatial Planning Support System for Bangalore, India”. He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering and a Masters in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation. Acquired vast experience in the field of Remote Sensing and GIS. His research has been primarily on land-use and land cover change studies exploring their consequences on environmental sustainability and understanding their inter-relationship with natural resources using trans-disciplinary approaches. Dr.Sudhira was a faculty member at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS). While at IIHS, he led the team to map urban land cover and land cover changes for the top 231 cities of India, apart from playing a critical role in IIHS’ consulting and advisory services to the Government of Karnataka. Earlier, he had a stint with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport, Government of Karnataka, as a Land-use and Transport Specialist. Dr. Sudhira has undertaken studies and carried out projects funded by multilateral agencies like the Asian Development Bank (ADB), GIZ India, JICA, United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the World Bank. He has also contributed as a member of Expert Committees and a team of scientists working towards complying with the National Green Tribunal directions.
