Dr Babu has 36 years of experience in the field of oceanographic studies and about 20 years of experience in numerical modelling of coastal circulation, using MIKE software modules for hydrodynamics, waves, sediment transport and water quality and ecosystem studies. He has worked as Associate Professor, AcSIR & Principal Technical Officer in the Physical Oceanography Division of CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India. He served National Institute of Oceanography for 36 years in various capacities. And worked in various projects on the west and east coasts of India, to simulate the coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, water quality, pollutant dispersal, thermal plumes, oil spill studies, and ballast water dispersion in the coastal waters using MIKE21 and MIKE3 modules. He pursued his Ph. D degree from Goa University for ” Numerical modelling of the physical characteristics of the Gulf of Kachchh with respect to its sustainable use” .
