Hariprasad superannuated as Deputy Director General (Marine & Coastal Survey Division), GSI in 2014. During his tenure in the Geological Survey of India, He has acquired diverse experiences, starting from Systematic Mapping of Nicobar Islands, a land that was never mapped by any Geologist, under challenging situations and systematic mapping of seabed within Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of India which is also a pioneering work for the first time in the Indian offshore.  In addition, he has carried out several exploration cruises for heavy mineral placers, limemud and phosphatic sediments within Indian offshore.

 He was prominent member in cruises pertaining to commercial projects for ONGC, SPIC and Southern LPG Ltd.  He developed special interest and skill for operation of all offshore geological and geophysical survey equipment along with the operating and processing software.  He was officer-in-charge monitoring the maintenance and operation of all research vessels of Geological Survey of India.

He single handedly took up the responsibility of acquiring of Rs.7500 million worth state of the art Oceangoing Research Vessel Samudra Ratnakar of Geological Survey of India. His relentless efforts and hard work finally resulted in the timely delivery of the world class Research Vessel R.V. Samudra Ratnakar fitted with 27 modern geological and geophysical equipment and was dedicated to the service of the Nation in October, 2013. He was member of various national committees of GSI, MoES, NIOT, NIO and NCAOR.

He is Team Leader, Technical Experts, Geo Marine Solutions Pvt Ltd., who is Technical Consultant to SBICAPS for assisting in drafting of subordinate legislation/rules for implementation of OAMDR (Offshore Areas Mineral (Development & Regulation)) Rules, 2024.
